Do this first
1Electric heater: check its breaker hasn't tripped.
2Gas heater: check the pilot, following the label on the tank.
3Water around the base? Turn off the cold supply valve on top.
How urgent is yours?
Gas smell, sparks, smoke, or a line down? Get out and call 911 or your utility.
